Patrick James AKA Rob De Bank, a long time San Pedro California resident , has seen his artwork grace the fashion, advertising and entertainment scene for many decades. Patrick attended Otis art and Design College and Art Center College of Design on weekend scholarships while in High-school, that experience motivated him to attend Art Center College of design in Pasadena, where he fell in love with Fashion Illustration. Setting out after Art Center as artist-illustrator, Patrick moved to Holland . Starting with his first big fashion assignments for Revlon Cosmetics , P.C. Hooftstraat, Dolce & Gabbana in Amsterdam and Milan... Patrick moved back to Los Angeles, his early work for hi-end department stores such as Bullocks Wilshire, May Company, Bergdorf Goodman, Halston among others, made his work in high demand for movie-posters... Patrick has won numerous awards, including a Gold medal Key Art Award for making Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine look they're most glamorous on the movie poster "Postcards From The Edge". Other prominent posters were The Witches of Eastwick, Couch Trip and many others. Patrick created fashion images for Paper Moon graphics, the greeting card company, as-well as the iconic Punk Babies and Women with Beehive Hairdo series, which won the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles Gold Medal award! His efficient, multi media skills ,translate well for advertising campaigns, landing him accounts with many of the top advertising agencies and design firms with worldwide clients like Dole,Yamaha, Miller Beer, Western Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Sheraton, Marriott, Hotels, AT&T, Hertz, to name a few. His fashion artwork also appears editorially in publications like Playboy Magazine, W magazine, icon, monthly illustrations for American Spa Magazine, Harley Davidson apparel, Pfizer and so much more. Patricks first published illustrations were for Surfer magazine while in college.
Patrick started working with Storyboard inc in the mid 90’s, doing comps and storyboards for seemingly every large advertising agency on the planet! Using the nom de plume, Rob De Bank... Patrick has been working as a fine artist doing ambitious painting of famous Rock bands and celebrities, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Bill Wyman have Patricks Stones art in their collections .The Stones painting was exhibited at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in London. The estate of Bob Marley “Tuff Gong productions” has Patricks Bob Marley art in their collection. Linda Ramone ,the widow of Johnny Ramone has Patricks Ramones art in her collection. Patti Boyd aka Layla , the former wife of George Harrison, has Patricks Beatles art in her collection.
Patrick Surfs, cycles and plays tennis whenever possible…drinks plenty of coffee too!
